Thompson First Group is seeking an entry level Mechanical Engineer with knowledge in aluminum smelting and pressing processes to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, optimization, and maintenance of mechanical systems within our aluminum smelting and pressing facilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and success of our operations in the aluminum industry.

Responsibilities:

System Design and Optimization:

  • Design, modify, and optimize mechanical systems related to aluminum smelting and pressing processes.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and assess the performance of existing systems for continuous improvement.

Equipment Maintenance and Reliability:

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues to minimize downtime and ensure optimal production efficiency.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in aluminum smelting and pressing operations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that all mechanical systems comply with safety regulations and industry standards.

  • Participate in safety reviews and audits, proposing and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Project Management:

  • Manage mechanical engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.

  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment procurement and installation.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals.

  • Prepare regular reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and project status.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience in mechanical engineering within the Metal Casting & Melting.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with PLC systems and automation in industrial settings.

  • Experience with heat exchangers, furnaces, and hydraulic systems.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and environmental considerations in aluminum processing.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
