Thompson First Group is seeking a PLC Controls Technician for a direct hire opportunity for a local manufacturing client in New Castle, DE.  Candidates that have experience in installation and troubleshooting Siemens PLC's and have worked in an industrial setting are encouraged to apply.

Job Description:

  • Siemens PLC electrical and mechanical installations, maintaining, and troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Performing other electrical and mechanical installations, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing production equipment.
  • Lead efforts as programmer of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems.
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot PLC /HMI controls systems for various PLCs, but also a wide range of electrical and control issues.
  • Creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and confirm program meets specifications. Analyzes code to find causes of errors and revises PLC programs.
  • Writes and maintains documentation of changes to PLC code, programs, and specifications.
  • Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with PLC and HMI programs.
  • Modifies and maintains PLC software programs written by others.
  • Undertake the day to day operation of backup systems including rotation of backup tapes.
  • Plans and proposes the replacement, purchase, installation, and implementation of hardware and software according to Films Group IT standards and procedures.
  • Maintains software and hardware registration and inventory and insures appropriate security and stock levels are maintained.
  • Maintains current technical expertise in the rapidly changing technology of microcomputers and utilizes state-of-the-art techniques when implementing solutions.
  • Supports and follows up IT related requirements for projects.
  • Plans and proposes the purchase, installation and implementation of hardware and software according to Films Group IT standards and procedures for projects.
  • Additional responsibilities will include: periodic training of proper system and machine operation and maintenance, assistance with creating SOP and other related documents.
  • Consults with supervisor, systems analysts, and end users to gather information about the project intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in electronics, computer science or related field or equivalent years of work experience.
  • 3-5 years of on-the-job training in safety procedures, computer systems and machinery.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem identification skills.
  • Communication skills in relaying technical information.
  • Keen attention to detail.

Shift:

  • M-F 8 am - 5 pm
