Thompson First Group is seeking Safety Manager for a temporary to hire opportunity for a local client in Havre de Grace, MD.
Description of Duties/Responsibilities
List key roles and responsibilities (include only essential functions. Include percent of time for each and include any people management and leadership responsibilities.
Actively monitors/inspects the workplace to determine the presence of hazards and take appropriate action to rectify any hazards found.
Participates where required in the resolution of safety issues.
Previews the component injury data, ascertain location of injuries, and provide recommendations to eliminate hazards.
Trains local management in proper methods of investigation, and inspection format; compliance with safety laws and regulations
Conducts Safety Inspections of local facilities for hazards through walk-through visits, to include on-site evaluations and training as related to workplace safety.
Oversees weekly incident and accident safety calls
Monitors and reports on workers’ compensation claim trends and develops strategies that address injury management.
Ensures the activities associated with the successful return-to-work of injured workers are coordinated and implemented to minimize absence from work.
Follows OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations as defined by federal, state, local laws and Compass Support Services and client’s policies/procedures.
Ensures that local management receives monthly status reports.
Provides training to managers to follow safe work practices and maintain a safe working environment through training, presentations, conference calls, and the distribution of safety materials.
Assists business groups in the development and administration of effective and efficient loss prevention and control programs.
Complies with all Client administrative and incident investigation programs.
Ensures that units have effective “on-going” safety awareness programs to promote a safe work environment, including monthly safety topics, dashboards and Injury Frequency Rate (IFR).
Ensures that Company facilities comply with OSHA and other state and federal standards through facility inspection. In addition, ensure that the unit complies with safety and workers compensation procedures.
Uses previous experience and knowledge in accident prevention to reduce risks of job related injuries and illnesses of our team members, our clients’ employees and visitors to the facilities we work in.
